Team building art workshops in Dubai: formats that work for 10, 30 and 100 people

Team building art workshops in Dubai work or fail on one thing: whether the format matches the headcount. A painting session that feels personal for a team of ten turns into noise at thirty if nothing changes, and at a hundred it stops being a class altogether. Below are the three formats we run most often, what each one needs from your office or venue, how long it takes and what it costs. If you already have a date, a headcount and a budget, read the table and skip the rest.

Everything here assumes the workshop comes to you. Dolce Arty brings the studio in: canvases, acrylics, brushes, easels, aprons, floor and table coverings, and the clean-up afterwards. Nobody has to be bussed to a venue at 4pm on a Wednesday.

What is a team building art workshop?

A team building art workshop is a guided painting session for a group, usually two hours, where everyone paints under one instructor and leaves with the canvas they made. Nobody needs experience. Acrylic on canvas is deliberately forgiving: it dries fast, it covers mistakes, and a first-timer and a lifelong sketcher finish in the same two hours. Dolce Arty delivers these sessions for 10 to 100+ participants at offices, hotel function rooms and venues across Dubai, from Business Bay and DIFC to Downtown, Dubai Marina, Al Barsha and Palm Jumeirah. The full service, including brand activations, is on the corporate art team building page.

The reason it tends to land better than a quiz night or an escape room is structural. There is no winner, so nobody competes. There is no performance, so the quiet members of the team are not put on the spot. And there is a physical object at the end, which is why the canvases from a session usually end up on desks rather than in a bin by Monday.

Which format works for a team of 10?

Individual canvases, one subject, two hours. At ten people, one instructor can reach everyone without raising her voice, and a standard boardroom table is enough. Everyone paints the same subject, such as a Dubai skyline at dusk, a breaking wave or a desert horizon, step by step, and no two canvases come out the same. That divergence is the part people photograph, and it does more for a team than any icebreaker: ten identical briefs, ten visibly different results, no comment needed.

This is also the format that suits a team that has never done anything like it. Two hours is long enough to get past the first awkward twenty minutes and short enough to fit into an afternoon without writing off the day.

What changes when the team is 30?

A canvas-tile mural. At thirty people, individual canvases stop working as a shared experience: there is nothing to look at together at the end, just thirty separate paintings. So the artwork is designed as one large image split into numbered tiles, one per person. Everyone paints their tile without seeing the whole, and the tiles are assembled in the last fifteen minutes into a single piece.

The reveal is the point. It also gives you something to hang, which is the practical argument for the format when you are justifying the spend: a mural in the office is a permanent reminder of the afternoon, and it costs nothing more to keep.

Three things change behind the scenes at this size. The layout is agreed before the day, so the tiles line up. The palette is restricted, so the seams read as one image rather than thirty. And the briefing takes longer, because thirty people have to start at the same time.

How do you run a painting workshop for 100 people?

At a hundred you stop running a class and start running an activation. Instead of one seated session, the room holds several painting stations that people move through in waves: during a conference break, a staff day, a town hall or an end of year party. Each person paints a small canvas or a single mural tile in fifteen to twenty minutes, and the mural grows across the day rather than finishing at one moment.

The plan is built around the room: how many stations, how long each wave lasts and where the finished pieces dry. Inga designs it with you before the day, so nobody queues and the painting fits around the rest of the agenda rather than interrupting it.

Which format suits your headcount?

Headcount Format Time needed What each person leaves with Space required
Around 10 Individual canvases, one shared subject 2 hours, seated Their own finished canvas One boardroom table
Around 30 Canvas-tile mural, one numbered tile each 2 hours, seated, with a reveal at the end A tile in one mural for the office Long tables or several rounds
100 and above Rolling activation, several painting stations Half a day, come and go, 15 to 20 minutes each A small canvas or a tile in a growing mural Open floor, foyer or ballroom

How long does a session take, and when should you run it?

Two hours is the working number for 10 and 30 people: that is painting time, not counting setup before or clearing up afterwards, both of which are ours to handle. For 100+ the session stretches across half a day because people arrive in waves.

On timing, the slot that causes the least friction is early afternoon, straight after lunch. It avoids the 9am scramble, it gives canvases an hour to dry before anyone has to carry one to a car, and it lets the day end on the session rather than sending everyone back to their inboxes. Dolce Arty runs seven days a week, 9am to 9pm, so an evening or a weekend off-site is equally possible.

What does a team building art workshop cost in Dubai?

Pricing is per event, not per head. Most team building afternoons fall between AED 4,000 and AED 25,000. What moves the number is headcount, how long the format runs, where the venue is, and whether the artwork carries your branding: Pantone-matched palettes, a logo painted into the composition, co-branded canvases.

A recent example of a branded session: in October 2026 Dolce Arty ran a painting activation for MAC Cosmetics in Dubai. Each guest opened an envelope with her own skin shade, mixed it in paint, and finished a line portrait of herself that was waiting under a black cover. The brand idea, that every makeup routine starts with a base colour, became the painting itself.

For smaller groups that want a class rather than an event, adult painting classes in Dubai are priced per person from AED 250, with discounts from four people up. Either way, send a brief and a proposal with the concept, palette, run-of-show and total comes back within 24 hours. We invoice through standard corporate billing, and two to four weeks of notice is comfortable for most procurement processes.

What does the venue need to provide?

Very little, but the few things that matter are worth checking before you book the room:

Everything else arrives with the instructor and leaves with her, including the coverings that keep paint off the carpet. For offices that cannot give up a meeting room, a hotel function room nearby works just as well.

Who turns up on the day?

Inga Chalaia founded Dolce Arty in 2023 and leads the sessions herself. She holds a Master's in Art History and teaches in English and Russian, which is useful in a Dubai office where the team rarely shares a first language. For the largest formats she works with an assistant instructor, but the brief, the artwork design and the session itself are hers.

Frequently asked questions

How many people can take part in one team building art workshop in Dubai?

Dolce Arty runs corporate sessions for 10 to 100+ participants. For the largest groups the session runs as a rolling activation with several painting stations rather than one seated class.

Do participants need any painting experience?

No. The session is guided step by step in acrylic on canvas, which is forgiving and dries quickly. Teams are usually a mix of people who draw and people who have not painted since school, and both finish a canvas in the same two hours.

Can the artwork carry our brand colours or logo?

Yes. Canvas size, palette, theme and the artwork itself can be matched to your brand, including painting a logo into the composition or building a multi-canvas mural that reads as one image when assembled. Send your Pantones and key visual with the brief.

How much does a team building art workshop cost in Dubai?

Pricing is per event rather than per head. Most team building afternoons fall between AED 4,000 and AED 25,000 depending on headcount, format length, venue and branding. A written proposal and price come back within 24 hours of the brief, and we invoice through standard corporate billing.

How far in advance should we book a corporate art session?

As early as you can, especially for November and December, when many Dubai companies plan their end of year events. Send the date, headcount and venue, and Inga confirms availability and sends a proposal.

Can the workshop run at a hotel or venue instead of our office?

Yes. Sessions are delivered anywhere in Dubai, including offices in Business Bay and DIFC, hotel function rooms, and venues in Downtown, Dubai Marina and Palm Jumeirah. All materials, easels, aprons and coverings are brought in and taken away afterwards.
